Hello, Future Innovators and families,
I'm beyond thrilled to share some exciting news! The Future Innovators Academy (FIA) was recently spotlighted in the esteemed Ann Arbor Family Press. The article beautifully captures the essence of what we strive to achieve here at FIA - connecting young, inquisitive minds to the wonders of STEM using genuine materials and hands-on experiences.
Reading through the article brought a whirlwind of emotions. It is a culmination of my hard work, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every young mind. While my journey through the vast landscapes of STEM, from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center to shock physics experiments at LLNL to conceptualizing Mars expeditions in academy, has been nothing short of exhilarating, nothing compares to the joy of sharing this knowledge and passion with the next generation. And it's heartening to see our mission resonate with others.
The statistics are clear: we need more young minds venturing into the realm of STEM. With only 20% of high school graduates ready to pursue a STEM degree, there's a lot of work ahead. This becomes even more pertinent when we consider the future landscape of occupations. According to an article by the U.S. Department of Labor, "In 2021, there were nearly 10 million workers in STEM occupations, and this total is projected to grow by almost 11% by 2031." This growth rate is over two times faster than the total for all other occupations. The increasing relevance and growth potential in STEM fields underscores the importance of preparing our young minds for these promising and impactful careers. That's why, at FIA, we are keen to collaborate with local schools, educators, homeschool programs, and like-minded organizations. Every child deserves a meaningful STEM experience; together, we can make that a reality.
Lastly, the call to the community to champion FIA's cause is something that resonates deeply with me. Each one of you plays a crucial role in furthering our vision. Whether it's spreading the word, enrolling your child, or sponsoring tuition - every gesture is instrumental in shaping the future.
I'm deeply grateful to Ann Arbor Family Press for this feature and, more importantly, to each of you for participating in this journey. Let's continue to inspire, educate, and innovate, for today's learners are tomorrow's leaders.
